Telescoping
In cases where the crane is required to have an extreme or increasing height-under-hook, there are two ways of achieving this, by telescoping or climbing the crane. Telescoping is when inserting extra mast sections, with the help of a telescoping cage. Telescoping equipment can be used when height is increased as a building progresses, or it can be used on initial erection to keep the erection at a safe height and thereafter telescoping the crane to it's full height.
The equipment can be removed after use and wall tie frames are also used when exceeding limited free-standing height.

Climbing
Climbing equipment is used when cranes climb within the building. For this type of operation a special bottom section to the mast is required. Climbing and telescoping are carried out hydraulically using fall-safe equipment.
Hoist winch drums When climbing or telescoping the hook-height can be demanding, therefor hoist winch drums are supplied to accommodate the wire rope length required to cover the final known height-under-hook. |

Base situation
Cranes can be supplied with a range of bases to suit varying site conditions. These cover expendable (cast-in) bases or base feet units, tie-bolted down base cross units, or rail going travel bases, including portals. Rail bases can be for straight, 90 degree turn or for curve running or, if required, in certain circumstances, a combination of both. |
