Steel With Quallity

Tower cranes are relatively heavy structures and it takes advanced technology to manufacture each component. The use of killed steel is a major factor in Krøll's basic design, all our cranes are manufactured by quality steel, mill certified to German DIN standard (St52-3N).

 

The welded joints demand steel quality which has good resistance to fracture under conditions of high loading and low temperatures, after welding the fabricated parts are given a three part surface treatment consisting of shotblasting with steelsand ensuring a clean surface all over.

 

The surface is then metallized, which is a layer of aluminium/zink melted and thereafter sprayed on as a coat of paint. As a final touch the crane receives a coat of special protective paint in standard Krøll red, or as an alternative a customers choice of colour. This exceptional surface treatment ensures long life without any rust problems with minimal maintenance.

 

All other parts such as axles, pins etc. are hot dip galvanized, electroplated or chrome dip finished. This complete surface treatment of all components keeps a Krøll Crane in top condition for an exceptional long time.

     

 

 

 

Control
Krøll cranes are equipped, so all safety measures and standards are met. There are currently taken quality controls of all raw material, components and work processes. Welding control in steel fabrication is one of the most important operations, strict inspection is carried out using both ultrasonic and magnaflux test methods.

 

Before anything is shipped away, mechanical tests of the finished product are taken.
